Jessi Robertson is a Nashville-based singer-songwriter known for her powerhouse vocals and emotionally raw, genre-bending songs. Blending confessional fire with otherworldly imagination, her work draws comparisons to art-rock visionary Kate Bush, pop-rock icon Stevie Nicks, and indie iconoclast PJ Harvey.
Originally from a small town in upstate New York, she moved to Brooklyn in 2003, releasing two acclaimed studio albums: Small Town Girls (2011) and I Came From The War (2014). In 2018, she relocated to Nashville and surprised fans with Live From Union Hall, a previously unreleased live set from her 2014 album release show. A prolific multi-instrumentalist, she’s released a steady stream of singles and continues to perform regularly in both Nashville and New York City.
Her upcoming release, Dark Matter, marks a turning point. Created in the wake of her Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis in 2025, the album is a solo excavation of discarded songs written between 2017 and 2023. These tracks use the universe as a metaphor for otherness, exploring black holes, quantum entanglement, data loss, sleep paralysis, and the emotional physics of being misunderstood. The result is raw, vulnerable, unapologetically space-obsessed, and illuminated by hope even as it explores the outer darkness.
Whether you’re neurodivergent, neurotypical, or somewhere in between, Robertson’s work speaks to the universal experience of being told you’re too much or not enough. Dark Matter is an invitation to unmask, to feel deeply, and to find beauty in the parts of ourselves we’ve been taught to hide.
